Sleaford Mods have announced that they will be offering £5 tickets for their UK shows, specifically for those on low incomes.

the post-punk duo took to their official Instagram page earlier today (September 25) to announce they’d be offering affordable tickets for those who may not be able to afford one at full price.

“Morning, £5 low income tickets go on sale this Friday (September 27) at 10am. You got to sign up to the mailing list so you can get a ticket link. So these tickets are for people on low incomes so please, and I know you won’t, but please don’t take the piss. Thank you very much. We look forward to seeing you for a bit of fitness!,” said frontman Jason Williamson in the clip.

The accompanying caption read: “£5 low-income tickets for our UK dates go on sale at 10am this Friday! Sign up to our mailing list for the ticket link: sleafordmods.com/signup. No proof needed, it’s an honesty box, so don’t take the piss. Please. Get ready for the fitness! .”

Sleaford Mods are the latest band to release tickets at a lower price as a way to make attending their shows accessible for everyone. Los Campesinos! recently released tickets at a reduced price for those “unemployed/low income fans, who might not otherwise be able to afford to attend” The reduced tickets were £5 and standard tickets were priced at £20.

Back in 2022, Porridge Radio offered discount tour tickets as a way to help with the cost of living crisis. At the time, the band announced that they would “set aside 30 tickets per show for our headline UK shows to be discounted for people who have not been able to buy tickets due to financial worries.”

The electro band Regressive Left announced a similar move that same year and shared: “Everything’s shit and we want you to have fun.”

Last week, Coldplayannounced details of huge stadium shows in London and Hull for next year and promised that 10 per cent of their proceeds to Music Venue Trust.

Chris Martin and co also revealed that following the general and pre-sale tickets, the group will make a limited number of ‘Infinity Tickets’ available for the shows via Ticketmaster at 12pm on Friday November 22, affordably priced at just £20 per ticket but limited to two tickets per purchaser and must be bought in pairs.

In other news, back in July, Sleaford Mods released two previously unheard tracks, ‘Git Some Balls’ and ‘Air Con’. The tracks, one a reworking of the previous song, ‘Air Conditioning’, came ahead of the 10th anniversary reissue of ‘Divide & Exit’.
