The leader of Unite has urged the government to reverse its decision to cut pensioners’ winter fuel allowance, calling the policy “cruel”.
The union plans to raise the issue at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool.

He has made a huge mistake removing the winter fuel allowance for pensioners.
Some pensioners don’t need it…..is that a GOOD reason for removing the winter fuel allowance for pensioners, couldn’t these SUPER brains have some other way of finding the money…perhaps emptying the hotels of heated , fed illegal immigrants.
Or perhaps MPs could give up there their heating allowance and Starmers freebies.

Why not fix the forms so that it’s easier for pensioners to get pension credit those forms are meant to stop pensioners getting pension credit they are ridiculously hard to fill out look at the money the government has saved 8:03 not getting pension credit to the pensioners it’s so cruel taking a bit of help away while raking in free money and clothes while poorer pensioners are getting their winter woolies from charity shops

God I hate this nonsense. The pensioners losing out through the cut are by definition not the poorest pensioners. If they cared about pensioner poverty they should be campaigning for pension credit to be increased, for the threshold for receiving pension credit to be raised. Instead they're campaigning to keep giving money to the less needy.

Every civilised society ensures that their most vulnerable people such as pensioners and the disabled don’t suffer due to financial constraints. Old age is something that will come to us ALL. Get the feeling that unions are pushing for the winter fuel allowance reversal as they want to portray a better image and hopefully support from the public for future strikes. Maybe the public are not happy seeing train drivers getting a pay rise and OAP’s allowance are being stripped away. I’m not against unions at all. Just an observation.
