Newly appointed Roma boss Ivan Juric addressed the difficult circumstances his team had to operate in as they beat Udinese 3-0 today.

The Croatian technician spoke to DAZN after the game and praised the team’s performance.

“They did well, we worked a lot on the kind of game I want them to play. They are players who have always done this and so it sticks in their heads. There are others who didn’t play today, when you completely change something they struggle more. It’s normal.”

“In the second half we dropped a bit in intensity and ball possession, we need to work a bit on the concepts I want us to implement.”

“In the first half we played high up the pitch, we were aggressive and well positioned, but we need to improve certain positions when you go to win the ball. But I have experienced players who can adapt quickly.”

“It was easy to train them because they already are good players, they are serious professionals with quality.”

“The most difficult thing was that they were sad, De Rossi’s dismissal made them sad because they cared so much, especially the veteran who had known him for years. They were sad and raising their morale was difficult, but they were sincere in telling me even if it was difficult to tell the new coach.”

“Cristante and Pellegrini? They are great professionals. Those who were disappointed are the ones who represent the old guard, they think they haven’t given everything. They train very well, they also wanted to give everything before, when De Rossi was there, but it didn’t go well. They were disappointed but they are top players who immediately understand how to train and behave. I am convinced that people will change their minds.”

“Souloukou? I was sad to hear, when family is involved it’s really bad, especially if you’re talking about children. The team must concentrate on the pitch like all of us, the corporate organization in Trigoria is of the highest level, nothing is missing. We have to train and play well, that’s our job.”
