The row over Labour’s winter fuel payment cut has heated up, with the party’s biggest union backer accusing the government of “cruelty”.
Unite Union is planning on submitting a motion at the Labour conference later this month calling on the Prime Minister to rethink.
It comes as the Liberal Democrats began their party conference by continuing to push for a U-turn on the policy.

A pensioner has got to that age and paid into the system, whether they have savings or not, they have already paid into the system for probably 50+ years so they should all be entitled to it. When members of parliament are free and easy with tax payers money to heat the first or second home but take it away from a pensioner, it’s unforgivable! Those who voted labour have a lot to answer for!!

No downright evil, they know it could bring a faster decline to vulnerable pensioners who if disabled will be the ones having to use the heating more and the stress of higher bills will put extra pressure on them .They could have got the money from cutting back on the 2nd home allowances they award themselves and going after the billionaires ,if theres a shortfall from the tories go after them .

Labour couldn't have handled all of this any more heartlessly or incompetently if they'd tried. They clearly don't care if low-income pensioners freeze this winter, whilst they all stay nice and warm courtesy of their taxpayer-funded expenses. It's incredibly telling that not one charity, not one trade union, not one medical organisation, and not one MP from any other party, is prepared to support the way in which the useless and uncaring Labour shower have done this.
