I watched this play in slow motion about 15 times. For those that need to hear this: it wasn't the impact with Hamlin that caused the concussion. It was the back of his head hitting the turf – which is how all of his other concussions occurred. There's a reason you can't hit someone in the back of the head in combat sports like boxing or MMA. There are too many nerve endings in that area and there isn't enough protection for them. Did the impact with Hamlin start the concussion..? Maybe. Especially since concussion damage is cumulative. But it was the impact with between the back of his head and the ground that pushed it into being knocked out cold. More needs to be done to protect the back of the head.
At this point Tua needs to retire. He's an intelligent and charismatic guy that has $167 million guaranteed coming his way whether he plays another down or not. He could start his journey to being the youngest head coach ever or he would be great as an analyst or commentator. Or he could just get fat and enjoy his family. His choice. He has a young family that needs him and the next shot to the back of his head might cripple him. IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK.

Speaking as just a fan of the sport, I think it would be best if he retire…for a multitude of reasons.
1. Most important…His mental and physical health comes first. He has his family to think about long term.
2. The NFL can't afford to clear him, and then something worse happens

It’s honestly weird how I seen it coming the second he started to run… all I know is I’m absolutely mad… the league can do all they want to prevent that but you can’t prevent players from diving and bringing that stuff onto themselves. This is sad man because that play didn’t even look like he took a crazy amount of contact in the head and neck area. This just means that his body can’t take a blow whatsoever without triggering a concussion. It’s kind of like when a fighter has been knocked out to many times the smallest punch triggers the body to shut down.

Wish him a full recovery and a happy, long, healthy life. Having said that, I wish as many people cared as passionately about my health and long-term well-being as these guys and I’m sure thousands, if not millions, of others do whenever I suffer an injury like a concussion or a sprained MCL. I guess that’s why GoFundMe was, in part, created. (Help those who can’t throw or kick or shoot a ball exceptionally well who are too poor to pay for their medical care)

Something people don’t get about concussions is that they happen more often than this to position players they just don’t get knocked out but the little ones that add over time is worse than 5 big ones, if you do research getting one KO is not as bad than getting constantly hit on the head and QBs even Tua is not getting banged every play like a line backer or RB or lineman. This is why boxing is worse for the brain than MMA. Tuas hit is obviously horrible
