We reported how 999 crews rushed to Junction 13 (Provan Interchange) on the motorway after being called to a ‘multi-vehicle crash’ in the East End of the city. 

Police say they were alerted to the ‘incident’ shortly after 1pm on Wednesday, July 24.

Previously, the force said the smash involved three motors – and one of them was a police vehicle.

Road cops say the crash involved a Mercedes A45 which collided with an unmarked Volva S90 police car and Mercedes CLS that were on the hard shoulder of the eastbound carriageway.

Following it, two men – who were police officers – and another two men from the Mercedes CLS were taken to hospital.

A 48-year-old police officer and a 43-year-old man remain in a stable condition in hospital.

Meanwhile, a 38-year-old police officer and a 31-year-old man were discharged following treatment.

Additionally, three men – aged 27, 33, 39 – who were travelling in the Mercedes A45 were also taken to hospital and released following treatment.

A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

Police say he has now been charged and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Thursday, August 29.

On top of that, a second man – aged 33 – has also been charged in connection with alleged road traffic offences and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
